  • Hinge choice for kitchen cabinets

    Hi everyone!

Are concealed hinges better than traditional exposed ones for kitchen cabinets?

  • #2
    Hi there!
Concealed hinges are a great choice if you're going for a clean, modern look since they stay hidden when the cabinet doors are closed. Many of them also come with soft-close features, which help prevent slamming and make the cabinets feel a bit more high-end.

Traditional exposed hinges still have their place, especially in vintage, farmhouse, or classic-style kitchens. They're easier to install and can add a decorative touch if that’s the look you're after.

In the end, it really comes down to the style of the kitchen and personal preference. Hope it helps!

Thanks for the info! Also, do concealed hinges allow the same door opening range as exposed ones? And are there certain cabinet types where one works better than the other?

Most concealed hinges do allow for a wide range of motion, and many can open up to 110 degrees or more. Some specialty ones even go further, so it depends on the exact hinge type you choose.

As for cabinet types, concealed hinges are usually better suited for frameless cabinets, which are common in more modern kitchens. They can be used on face-frame cabinets too, but the installation might need a mounting plate. Exposed hinges tend to work better with face-frame cabinets and can be a good match if you're going for a more traditional or decorative style.
