Installing vented range hood through a cabinet, 6" ductwork. Do I get a 6" hole saw, or 6-1/4"?

I looked it up. A “6-inch” duct usually refers to the inside diameter, but the actual outside diameter can vary depending on the duct material, wall thickness, and manufacturer. The safest approach is to measure your duct’s outside diameter and cut a hole slightly larger so it fits easily. If the hole ends up a bit bigger, it’s usually easy to cover or seal.
