  • refacing kitchen cabnets

Hi, I hope there is someone out there that can help me with my ?.
I am thinking about refacing my kitchen cabnets. They have a fake wood overlay on them, like some type of formica. My ? is can I glue the refacing wood over that or should I remove it first?

If the present facing is on really good, then just scuff it with some sand paper and then tak-cloth it from dust. Then cover with your new adhesive and panels or Formica or what ever you plan to use. As long as it's dust and grease free and has a toothed finish, you should be fine.

I haven't done it myself but I'm thinking about it. I've been told that there are special paints for painting formica and arborite that has been scuffed.

      Hope things go well.
