Is it ok to use 1x42 belts on 2x42 sander?

I found a 2x42 tabletop sander that looks good. Can 1x42 belts be used on it also? Is using 1x42 belts on a 2x42 sander a problem in any way? Thanks.

I would think so. the motor that was chosen to run the 2 inch belt will probably run faster on the one inch belt. the forward roller probably won't center the belt as its running so you'll continually be trying to center it.
