  • woodscrew, stripped out wood

I have a wood screw stripped out hole in a door. The screw holds the door bolt "face"
plate on the narrow side of the door.

Given the use a door gets, to really securely fix it, should I drill it out and glue in a dowel or will the toothpick
thing with glue be good enough?

How do you pros fix stripped hole where there must be a lot of force applied?

    Thank you.

I like the dowel idea! Sometimes some wood putty and once it dries a longer screw works well too.

There is a new door hardware that solves this very problem. ReSecure Latch sits inside the door along side the latch. No more glue, stick, putty, or that ugly metal sleeve that slides over the door. You can find out more at ReSecurelatch.com or the link in my profile.
