My hood no longer works. I originally thought it was the hood itself (not the power), so I went and replaced the old with a new, but it still does not work. I am now certain that there's no power going through the hard wires. Having said that, there ought to have been power before since it used to work fine. Do I have to tear down all the dry wall back there to fix this problem? Please advise. Thank you.

Tearing out drywall would be the last thing to do. I assume you've checked the breaker. Next you need a tester to be sure there is no power on the line. Then check to see if anything else is not working. The range hood is almost certainly not on a dedicated circuit. Is it possible that a GFI is upstream?
