Amps for power....

Okay, so I have a cheaper brand name chop saw that grabs 15 amps. It has a hard time maintaining speed when being used. Tried my son's, a higher quality brand name, 15 amp chop saw. It buzzes right through. Both 15 amp. Why do some motors rated the same amp have less power than others?

it all has to do with the manufacturer. some use motors with less poles to make up for speed with a beefed up gear reduction.

If you are plugged into an outlet using a long extension cord ..you could be having volt drop which would cause your saw to lose power...either get a larger size wire for the extension cord or shorten up on the one you are using...more length means more volt drop
