    Ground wire....

So, there's this house, been around for a while. Some of the outlets are only two pronged. A rewire maybe 1 years ago and much of the house was updated to three. For those plugs with only two wire.....is okay to run a separate ground wire, say a green insulated one from the outlets that need the ground and connect that wire to a nearby known ground wire? Like one that is in an outlet nearby, but on a different circuit?

you can if you want but a more permanent fix for two wire outlets is a ground fault receptacle. since it protects against imbalance between the hot and neutral, you don't need the ground wire.
