Just aquired a really nice generator. Have some issues with it though...
Somebody backfed it and I was told it was "smoked". Been pokin' at here and there. Someone already took the generator head out, which I have. The AVR-field control module may be indeed smoked but the winding don't smell bad. Problem is, while most AVR units are under $100, this one goes for $400-$500 bucks. Anybody know how to test it? If it is bad, anybody know where I could get a reasonably priced replacement? Generator is a Yamaha EDL6500S with a Sawafuji generator head. Twin diesel, watercooled unit. I'd hate to give up on it.
