    Internal circuit breaker failure

    Any body ever have a 100 amp main circuit breaker fail internally phase to phase

      It was over 25 years ago, but I remember being advised by GE to replace some breakers that I had bought from them because of a possible failure problem. They sent all new breakers and paid the electrician's bill. I am sorry, I don't remember the model numbers involved, but I believe that they were in the 100A to 400A range and that they were all three phase. We did change them all and all was fine.

        It was a 50 year old square d, of course its not made anymore so no replacement. It was installed in the original panel and turned of when vectren installed a smart meter, it fried one of the meter stabs and showed signs of scorching on the 100 amp breaker
