    GFI's......

Inspector came by today to son's house. All electrical was good except he wants GFI's in all basement outlets. Is that NEC?

Nothing was said about AFCI's. In fact, even the GFCI's in the basement outlets weren't mentioned until after the final inspection. Which was delayed because of it. No big deal, just wish it was mentioned on the original code sheet, we would have had them in. What's an AFCI?

An AFCI IS AN arc fault circuit interrupter. In 1996 it was code to install an afci in very bedroom circuit(s).
Now it's mandatory in every habitable room, other than a bathroom where a gfci is needed.
And they're not cheap! Depending on who your panelboard manufacturer is.
Square D is the most expensive.

Check your local building code amendments, afci were deleted from ours because of all the problems
