  • Testing Ground Quality

LazyPup referred to a receptacle tester called "Stop Shock" by A.W. Sperry in a recent post. Link: http://www.awsperry.com/cgi-bin/db_s...&item=hgt-120a

This is advertised as having the capability of testing for "safe, low impedence ground." Is this a reasonable claim?

Are there other effective methods for testing the quality of the ground connection to earth?

There is if you want to pay the price for the equipment. Hi-Pot makes a digital resistance tester specifically for ground resistance that goes for about $1000.

Another option would be to aquire a megger,,but they are also a fairly expensive piece of equipment and would require a fairly comprehensive crash course in electrical theory before you could learn to use it effectively.

Does the Stop Check tester offer a reliable indication of the quality of the ground to earth?
