I am running power to a line of receptacles and lights. It is acceptable to put a junction box about three feet away from the breaker box to power to this line?

The reason I wan to do this is because it is easier for me to tie three lines together in a junction box verses a receptacle.

    Thanks

Sure! wherever you tie anything together a J box is ok. It is also required - not left hanging out in the open and 12 is tough to work with inside a wall case.

New habbit I've started. We have no basement, and we're on a slab for the old half of our house, so all wiring is in the attic. My new habbit is to mount all my junction boxes on a 2x4 about 2' long that is screwed to the ceiling joists, to keep them up out of the insulation, and more easily accessible. It sure would have been nice if the people who built this house would have done the same.
