Well..just bought a 2X55 CF kit from Innovative Lighting and bought the bulbs and reflector from Aquarium Hobby Supply. (Guy there was great to deal with ->AHS, highly recommended and great pricing on equip). Well got in the kit as I want to build my own canopy. Got one issue. On the ballast, the side going to the lights, there are 4 red wires and 1 yellow wire. It's a fulham ballast (http://www.fulham.com) and the wiring diagram it comes with is not dummy proof. I called fulham cust svc and the lady was kind of arrogant and I couldn't get much out of her. My question is there are 4 self tapping connections at the bottom of the endcap (German Style [....] ) and I was curious how I was supposed to connect 5 wires (4red & 1yellow) to 8 connections. She said there should be lead wires coming off the end caps, I told her there weren't and that it was a retrofit kit. Then she said, "Oh, that's why" (I guess it's normal?) but anyhow, she just said connect 2 reds and 2 yellows to them and you should be fine. I asked if there was a specific order to connect them (ie. red yellow, red yellow) and she said "no, just as long as both yellow and red are connected to it, it will be fine". The wiring diagram is here: http://www.fulham.com/wh5dia11.html (linear diagram) and a pic of the end cap is here:
.
I'm going to get some same gauge wire to provide "lead wires for the yellow wire" as well as splice it for the two endcaps but is she correct in stating to just connect the red and yellow in no particular order?
Thanks,
HW
