  • Inoperable Outlet

I have an outlet (in a series circuit) that doesnt seem to be working. There is no current between the hot and the neutral but there is 110 from hot to ground?

There doesnt seem to be any switch that controls it either.

    Any suggestions?

Loose neutral probably at the last working receptacle in closest to the dead one on that circuit.

      Inoperable Outlet

Thanks. Here is what I found. Not only were the hot and neturals on the wrong side BUT the line side was stabbed on top and the load side was coming out the bottom screws. No wonder it didnt work. Now I am really scared of what other amature work was done inside this house I just bought!!!

That description doesn't make sense. The power in may be attached to the upper screws and the power out to the lower screws; this is a typical install. Having the hot and neutral reversed is a problem, but it would not make a downstream receptacle inoperable. Did you find a loose wire?
