Is there anyway I can make the inside of a lightbulb socket easier to screw and unscreww a lightbulb? I have a couple lamps have (for lack of a better word) rough socket and it's always hard to take the bulb out and put a new one in. I'm afraid to grip the bulb to hard as I don't want it breaking in my hand. Thanks for any help.

use regular ol vaseline on the screw shell. just put a little bit on them and screw in the bulb.

thank you very much. I was afraid to put anything inside the socket as I didn't want to fry myself.

nawww a little bit goes an long way problem is a metal mis match brass and aluminum socket or aluminum and aluminum. aluminum oxidizes even after a few minutes.

          new question re light bulbs

I have a lamp that has the same bulb for yrs, but I can't get it out. If I break the bulb, how do I get the rest out?

Unplug the fixture and deliberately break the bulb AND WATCH OUT FOR GLASS! Stick a piece of wood about the same diameter as the screw shell into the bulb base - a paint stirrer might do and unscrew the shell. you should be all set then.
