  • Leviton 5625 wiring problem

the 5625 is a switch/receptacle deal. I'm taking out an on/off switch for a ceiling light in the bathroom. I have only two wires at the box. I can get the light to work with the switch but the receptacle will not operate anything I plug into it; radio, fan.
the wiring diagram provides so many options I'm thoroughly confused; especially since I only have two wires +/- to work with. I think this has been addressed but can't locate the information using search. Any help will be appreciated.

all you have in the box is a switch loop. there is NO neutral. I'm afraid you are out of luck! The HOT wire is at the ceiling light. The two wire coming down is for the switch.

You DO NOT have "+/-" to work with. First off, we do not use the +&- terms. That is for car batteries.
Second, as HayZee said, you have a switch loop there. You have one constant hot and one switched hot.
You absolutely cannot make this work with the existing wires.
