Need help with wiring 220V air compressor

New guy here, In need of some assistance. I just got a new compressor but it's a 220V. I thought no problem dad will help me hook it up, well I was Wrong on that assumption. So here is what I have going on: I have 10 gauge wire going from my main breaker box of the house out to my shed into a smaller breaker box in which my dad has wired up for me. I have lights and outlets running off of it. How do I get a 220v line to power the compressor?

How big is the compressor's motor? And by this I don't mean what is the "developed" HP. What is the actual amperage of the motor?

like speedy said we need the actual amps of the motor. we need to know if the feeder to the "sub-panel" is wired correctly. 10/3 won't do. 10/3 with ground is necessary. sub-panel needs an isolated neutral (not bonded) to the panel and you need an auxillary ground strip installed for equipment grounding. is the breaker that's feeding the shed a two pole breaker or just a single pole breaker?

Here is what I know, the compressor is 15 amps, it's a 2 pole 30 amp breaker feeding the sub-panel. The 10 gauge wire consists of red, black, white, and copper wires. Red-one pole of breaker, black-other pole of breaker, white and copper go to grounding bar. there anything else you need to know??

ok, the 10/3 that's feeding the panel is ok, but you need to isolate the white and bare wire at the sub-panel. the white feeds the neutral bar which doesn't use the bonding screw. the bare goes to an auxillary ground strip which IS bonded to the panel's metal shell. this is an extra purchase for you. the compressor is rated at 15 amp like you say, then use a piece of 12/3 SO or SJO cord which is rated 20 amp. Use a 20 amp, two pole, common trip breaker. Connect the black to one side, the white (with a wrap of black tape on it) to the other and the green wire to earth ground at the compressor. At the panelbox black and white (taped black) to the two pole breaker, the green ground to the equipment ground bar - [that extra ground strip you purchased and installed]
