  • Wiring a switch to controlling an outlet

I'm installing a waste disposal under my sink. I need to add a power outlet that is controled by a switch. Can I get a drawing on how to wire a switch that controls the outlet

    Disposal outlet

The attached diagram shows how to wire a disposal outlet under the sink cabinet. If you use metal boxes, make sure you install a green grounding screw and connect the bare conductor in the romex cable here as well as the green screw on the device yoke. If you use plastic boxes, this green screw will not be there, just wirenut all bare grounds together and use a short pigtail to ground the device(s) yoke. 12/2 romex is meant to be "fused" using a 20 amp fusetron time delay fuse or a standard 20 amp single pole circuit breaker in a disposal application. Hope this helps!
