Converting a light fixture to an outlet

I have basic ceramic single bulb fixtures in my unfinished basement. They are on a switch. In order to add more light, I purchased some basic flourescent shop lights that need to be plugged in. Can I replace the ceramic fixture with an outlet and simply plug the shop lights in? This way they are on a switch.

If your keyless receptacles are mounted on a 4 inch octagon box, you can purchase a single or duplex outlet that is mounted on a 4 inch octagon plate and plug in your fixtures.
