Electrical Outlet only works 2ith 3 prong plug

I have an elecrical outlet in the home that only works when I plug a three prong cord into it. When I plug in a two prong device (no ground prong) like a blow dryer or iron, it doesn't work. I have replaced the outlet and I also made sure the bare ground wire was attached to green ground screw. Help.

    Brad,

I would guess that there is a break in the neutral wire somewhere between the electrical panel and this outlet. If you have checked the wire connections at this plug and this is the last outlet in a series then it would be at the outlet before it (assuming that outlet work properly).

    Good luck, Jim
