  • 3 way to 4 way...

Along with changing the switches, would it be okay to thread a single strand of #14 through the wall to the extra traveler wire?

extra traveler? a four way switch is inserted between two three ways. you don't need an extra wire.

      3 way - 4 way

a four way switch is inserted between two three way switches to control lights from three locations. more switch locations require more four way switches but must start with a three way and end up with a three way. I don't understand your need for an extra wire.

        Extra wire....

Well, HayZee, to explain the need for the extra wire would require my telling that I don't know what I'm talking about. Since I'm not willing to do that, I'll just go with lies....

Actually, I was under the impression that more than two switches would require all to be four way's, hence the extra wire.
Thanks for the schematic and helping keep me straight on this stuff.
