That's really great news, Maclean. Glad to hear that dangerous situation is gone. But can you tell us if Al shed some light on why towel racks, shower heads, and gutters and downspouts were also charged?

Actually, I can do that - as an amateur radio operator I am surprised I did not think of it sooner.

Only the gutter downspouts were actually carrying real current.

As for the other metal items - Inductance.

The perimeter of the home was carrying actual current, which caused every metallic item inside the home to carry potential enough to set off a voltage ticker.

The gutters were carrying current because of a metal flashing that runs between each section of the home and the roof.
