When putting in a new electrical box on a stud before drywall....how far out do you put the box when the drywall is 1/2 inch. Any help would be appreciated. Lisa

Welcome to the forum.
If you are installing 1/2" drywall then that's right. The box needs to sit flush with the finished wall surface so if you are adding drywall and the panelling or something else you need to take that into consideration.
