How to install a wall mounted swing arm lamp

Hi Gurus,

I have a switch operated electrical outlet 2ft above ground. I would like to install a wall mounted swing arm lamp 2ft above the outlet.

1. Can I connect the wiring to the electrical outlet (in parallel)? I will be using 60Watt bulb.
2. I am new to this. My plan is to cut a hole 2ft above the outlet, run fishtape and pass wires to the electrical outlet and connect in parallel. Will this work?
