combo switch and outlet

I am kind new in here but need help please.

I am trying to replace the old switch with the combo switch and outlet.
The Old switch has black and white wire on the left side and red wire on the right side. I connected the same way as the old one and it works fine. However, i don't want the switch control the load on the outlet. I meant when i flipped the witch to off position i have power on the outlet but when i turn the switch on position i have no power on the outlet.
Is there a way to hook up and have a separate load on the switch and power outlet.

are youi trying to replace a single switch with a combo switch/outlet? you need a neutral in the box to make it work. what have you measured with a meter between the black and white, red and white?

Yeah, it is a single switch. I will measure it tonight and let you know.
