Adding a box

Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of adding a Fan/Light to the bathroom, but I require 2 switches, where there is only a single. Is there a way to put in larger electrical box without cutting a large section of the wall so I can fasten the new box to the stud?

Welcome to the forum. What you can do is look for a double gang box that is designed for "old work." These boxes have hooks on the sides that tighten against the wall to hold it in place. This eliminates having to fasten the box to the stud at all.

Another alternative is to find a dual light switch. It would have two switches that fit in the space of a single one. Then you wouldn't have to cut your wall at all. This is what I would do.
