Price for 2-2-2-4 Ser Copper

We have a quick question. We're looking to purchase cable to hookup a sub-panel, but Home Depot, Lowes dont carry that kind of wire,

Any help awhere in north east New Jersey or on line and the price per foot???

one question: how do you intend to run this wire? through studs or in conduit, underground?
one company sells 2/4 BX copper at $3.00 a foot.

First opff, did you try a real electrical supply house? You will find whatever you need there.

Second, WHY #2cu ??? This is oversized even for a 100A sub-panel.

The inspector told us that 4-4-4-6 is good for only 80% of 100amps and 2-2-2-4 was recommended.

Question:

What size Ser do you recommend????

W...WHAT??

Wow. It amazes me how clueless some inspectors are, and how they take advantage of unsuspecting folks.

We would use 2-2-2-4AL SER or 4-4-4-6CU SER. Some inspectors do not allow this and we would use a 90A breaker instead of a 100A. Or just use #1AL or #3CU. Then again, NY follows the NY Resi Code, not the NEC for one and two family dwellings.

Commercial is completely different.
