    rheostat control...

Can a 12V motor be controlled with a rheostat? Like a light dimmer switch?

      12V rheostat...

Trying to control a 12V dc motor speed. Some kind of variable speed control. Was thinking of something similar to a rheostat light switch...

use a standard wirewound rheostat and wire it in series. a five watt control should be sufficient. a dimmer won't work because it chops the sinewave which is AC into dc.
