  • outlet and exterior light loss of power

I began residing my home a couple of years ago and took down the front exterior light and left its two bare wires hanging there all this time (it worked before). Now I've bought a new light and it doesn't work. Further, about a year ago inside that door and across the room, an outlet just stopped working. I've checked all breakers. It's an old outlet type without a reset button. Could there be a connection between the loss of power of the two?

I am assuming that there is a switch for the exterior light. Did you check to see if you have power at the switch itself? As far as the two problems being connected, unfortunatly anything is possible. If it's on a first floor can you visually trace the wires in the basement to see if they might go from point "a" to point "b"? Hope I've helped you.
