  • electrical box extenders for old metal boxes

I am remodeling a house from 1964 here in Boulder, CO and I have a dilemma. I have moved, adjusted, added, and removed some electrical boxes from my walls and now I have a mix of newer handy boxes, and older metal boxes in my walls. My metal boxes are about 1-5/8" wide and my handy boxes are 2" wide. Pretty much all of my boxes, even the new ones, really need box extenders so that I can get my new decora switches and outlets nice and flush with my homebrew gasketed oak switch plates. I am thinking about ordering a bunch of Arlington BE1 1-gang poly box extenders from Amazon to flush out my boxes. My question is, will this type of extender work for the old metal boxes as well as my newer handy boxes? Amazon does not appear to carry metal box extenders, and I am a little concerned about putting in a big order. Thanks again for your help!
