    FAux floor painting.

I'm refinishing my oak floors and want to faux stain a tiger wood or pickle barrel finish. Any suggestions... burning? ...stain colors?

    paintfloors

Interesting idea. I've never tried painting a floor, but here's a link I found that has some tips. Of course, try it out on some sample boards or scraps if you can to make sure you get the technique down.

sounds very interesting. If you are using paint on a floor follow couple things. first I would use a floor paint that way you know it is rated for horizontal surfaces. Only other thing I would recommend would be to use a water based poly so there would be no yellowing like with oil based.
I would do at least 3 coats.
      good luck

Here are some things I found: Creating Faux Wood Finishes

Decorating : Graining / Combing : Faux Wood Grain : Home & Garden Television

LIVING : Walls & Floors : Faux Wood Grain : DIY Network

The building where I live in NYC has used a technique like this on a lot of the doors in its lobby area. They were originally metal and have had their faux wood grain surfaces touched up from time to time.
