  • just a thought..........

hello all, putting down ceramic tile in kitchen, sistered 4 outta 6 floor joists. its just impossible to get a second peice of wood in the spaces due to gas pipping, electrical wireing and heating ducts. question is what about steel???? a peice f steel 8"high by 1/2" thick by 12' long would slip right next to the remaining 2 joists. these two are right in the middle of the floor, but am i getting too nutty with this? should i just leave it alone with just 4 outta 6 floor joists sistered? the orignal floor joists are dug fir 16"oc 2x8's with a 12' span in ok condition. a deflection tool i foung rated them @L / 302. not too good for ceramic tile. oh brother what have i gotten myself in to......lol. thank you

quite frankly I think you could get along with every other joist on your span. load bearing is on the outer ends even tho the center cups a little.- floor is gonna give a little.
