  • thermostat doesn't work right

I have 4500 amps of electric baseboard heater on 1 thermostat and it seems to intermitantly goes out of whack. too hot for the temperature setting. Help me find the problem. Thanks

4500 watts divided by 240 volts equals 18.75 amps. check your rating of the thermostat in amps -or- watts. the thermostat is inevitably of the bi-metallic design, that is to say two dissimilar metals that expand and contract at different rates according to room temperature. the actuator pawl of the "stat" pushes against a snap action microswitch. it is this switch that does the actual connect and disconnect of the load. the wires that come off the switch[es] is red and black. please confirm.
