My daughter in Lexington, KY needs to replace 2 air and heat systems. We are looking at American Standard, Rheem and Trane systems. What do any of you know about these units and are they the best to choose from? They are the top three recommended in Consumer Reports. She has gas heat.
Also have been told by the Trane dealer that she should not use a high efficiency unit because the coil is in the attic and the condensate might tend to freeze up in winter.
He recommended that we not go above a seer of 16 in the attic. He did not mention the unit in the crawl space but would the same apply there?
We are looking at 1 -2 ton and 1-2.5 ton unit. What would be an average price for these units and installation?
Thanks
John
