I have a theory about combining the furnace and AC functions of an HVAC unit to provide dry heat in the winter. I've never heard of this being done so I'd like everyone's thoughts.
I need to keep my shop at a low humidity level. I always have the AC on in the summer. However, in the winter, I always wonder if the furnace is keeping the humidity down to the summer levels.
It seems logical that one could rig up a control/thermostat that would provide heat as usual but, if the humidity level increases, the AC would also turn on. I envision both systems running at the same or individually as the need arises.
Any ideas? Or has this been discussed before? Search didn't come up with anything.
Thanks!
Larry
