  • Modifying a gas valve???

I have acquired a propane fireplace with a Robertshaw Grayson gas valve with the
model 7000MRLC and the numbers 709-001-041 on it.
Hey the price was right and I am using it as a heat source in my shed.
The fireplace is an old Insta-Flame Model HE20mp. I would like to hook a
    thermostat to this fireplace.
Is it possible to modify this valve to become a 7000MVRLC instead.
I have searched on line and the pics/info I've seen appear to be the same
valve with the thermostat hookup attached.
Is this correct? If so where can I get the modification hookup parts? The
parts list in the fireplace manual for the thermostat controlled valve
are "Gas Valve (R/S 7000MVRLC) LP gas part # 51835" and "thermopile
    tp75-18 part # 51827".
Would it be cheaper to buy a newer style compatible gas valve to place in
    the fireplace instead??
If so what would be the type/name/model and what other items would I need, ie:- a thermostat and a thermopile but anything else??
Any info, help or direction would be greatly appreciated. I live in
    Eastern Canada.Thanks, regards, Edgar
