I have an open-beam cathedral ceiling I would like to insulate with fiberglass batts and then "close-up" with tongue and groove planks. The spacing between beams is 32" and the cavity depth is 7". I have done some research and the opinions with respect to allowing for a 1" ventilation space between the top of the insulation and the bottom of the roof are conflicting. It would be difficult to allow for ventilation, so I dont want to do it if I dont have to. I live in western Oregon and we dont get a lot of snow, but the winters are wet. Any thoughts out there? thanks, John
