  • wall unit, pilot and control problem

Just had a repair guy out to fix a wall unit. He replaced the Robershaw controls and thermocouple. The pilot will not stay lit. It goes out after a few hours. In addition, the simple on/off thermostat does not turn the unit off, but will allow it to come on. If you turn the thermostat off and then bang on the Robershaw, the unit goes off. I was not impressed with Dr AC that came out and don't want to use him again. Any suggestions that I can check myself?

Probably the last thing you would want to do at this point is attempt repairs yourself. Last tech could have left any number of problems. For instance whenever a gas valve is replaced you must clock meter to determine if furnace is burnng at rated input.
