  • honeywell t87b thermostat

I have a 1983 vintage Honeywell T87B thermostat that runs a new gas heating and electric compressor system by Trane.

When I started using the heat setting, it warms up the room about 4 to 5 degrees too hot (set thermostat on 70 and it runs furnace up to 74/75).

Is there someway to adjust thermostat to correct the problem?

    Thanks.

the heat anticipator is out of adjustment there is a brass colored pointer (on the t-stat)that can be moved to anticipate satisfaction move it a little see what that does, adjust it until you get it right, there is a more precise way to go about it, but this will work.

If the furnace is run on an oil burner look on the bunrer for an amp number. then look on the anticipator for a corresponding number. move the slider to this number.

Just push the anticipator down a little where it said for shorter run.

This picture is off a honeywell site. It is not the specific thermostat you call out but it looks the same as the T87B (or F)
Look for a copper slider lever with a point in it. like an arrow. this points to the Ma setting of your gas, oil burner valve current (Milliamperes) up or downscale it will extend oe retard the on burner time.
