Water collecting below the gas furnace

Hi,

We have a gas furnace in our house and just recently started using the heating system. It is a 10 year old house and we purchased it this summer. I am finding that water gets collected under the furnace. The furnace is in the basement. We have central humidifier attached to the furnace but we don't use it as we want to control the humidity in the house.

The first time it happened I felt may be condensation is forming as we keep the night time temperature upto 65 degrees. But today it happened again and am getting concerned.

Any advise appreciated.

check out the humidifier fist and see that it is working right .Can be over filling and running over. On all the time. You have lots of ifs ifs here

Gas furnace??
Does it happen to be a high efficiency Gas furnace???
If so, check and make sure the condensate from the furnace is draining away properly..
IF this unit happens to be a Carrier or a Bryant or I think a Payne / Day & Night are spinnoffs of Carrier too;
Check the flexible drain hoses that run inside the furnace, chances are they have a hole in them.. Some hoses were known to desintegrate due to a manufacturing defect when they actually made the rubber so I was told.. I replaced a set on my Bryant.. 2 sets on Granny's Bryant furnace, and my Girlfriend's Mom's new house has had them replaced as well. Bryant furnace yet again!! I found the old ones downstairs.... cracked and full of holes, evidence of condensate in the furnace and on the floor at some time in the past....
