i have a king thermostat that runs one of those room by room heating systems where the heater is just attached to the wall down at the floor. i was wondering if i can replace the crappy thermostat with a digtal one that will be more accurate with keeping a more constant temp in my room, the one i have now is really bad about turning on or off when its supposed to and im sick of it. thanks for the help.

i told you all i know. the thermostat says "King" and that is all that is said. the actual heating element or whatever you want to call it is mounted on the wall down at the base board. it is completely separate from every other heater in the house. that is all i know.

King is a brand of electric convection baseboard heaters. The thermostat is a line voltage unit. There are not a lot of programmable line voltage units, but I believe LUX makes them. You could also check White-Rodgers and Rite-Temp.
It is vital that you buy ONLY a line-voltage thermostat. You must also determine is your particular unit is 120 volt or 240 volt, and then get the appropriate single pole or two pole unit.
Now, digital/programmable or not, convection baseboard heat is not ammenable to precise control of room temp. like you are seeking. A new thermostat will probably be more accurate than what you have, which is probably a snap-action bi-metal. But convection heat works best if you have adequate watts for the room and let it "simmer" slowly. Leave the heat on at a lower setting all the time. This works much better than letting it cool off a lot and then trying to warm it up. It takes a while for the room to "equalize".
