Pulse furnace burn time

Hi all!! I have a quick question for you. I have what I believe is called a pulse furnace. It is gas powered, and instead of burning constantly, it will burn for a short perios of time, then shut off the burner (fan still blow warm air, until it cools off to the setpoint) and then starts to burn all over again. We have recently installed an electric thermostat, to help control our heating and cooling costs. My question is, what is better, or more efficient for the furnace, a longer burn time, or a shorter one? This may seem like a dumb question, but I can think why either one would be better, so I though I would ask the pro's. I believe this is an Arcoaire unit. Thank you!!!

I think whatever is efficient for that type of boiler/heater arangement is most efficient for that type. Some run for the duration of the setpoint - some in pulsing sessions like yours.
Once the temperature is at the setpoint, calling for more heat is a function of the anticipator of the system.
If you have lot of drafts going past the "stat" the burner will be coming on more often than not.
