  • LUX500 thermostat programming question?

    Hi everyone,
    Please help here:

Turning on heat: If I set up the thermostat at 50F in morning(nobody home) but the furnace kept blowing cold air. Is the furnace burning gas or using electric? Will this overwork the furnace? Is there a function to turn off the heat automatically? I know that I can turned on heat, cool or off. Please educate.

Also, any basic servicing the furnace? Filter? Anything else? Please also educate.

    Thanks

If the furnace is set to 50, I take it your furnace is just blowing cold air?

Do you know that for a fact? There is something called 'temperature rise'. At 50 degrees inside, the furnace may not be putting out a lot of real hot heat and may actually feel cold, when it really isn't, due to windchill/mixing with the surrounding room air, and that colder than normal air is being drawn itno the cold air returen and making the heat exchanger cool off more.

You need to open up the top panel of your furnace and visibly see if the burners are lit, and/or put a thermometer down in the register to see that it is putting out say 80 degrees heat, at least (at that 50 degree setting). If it is, then you know it is burning gas and has fire, automatically.

I don't care to speculate anymore at this time until you get back here and tell me what you have in this way.
