I have a Honeywell T8112D programmable thermostat. I believe the previous owner of my house used a sharp point to set the thermostat because there are two indents on the temperature up button. Periodically these two idents will cause my themostat to keep increasing the heat in my house automatically. With my thermostat, the programmed system can be temporarily overrided by pressing the temperature up or down buttons. So the system sometimes senses the indents as someone pushing the temperature up button and hence increases the temperature to the max. I wanted to open the front covering so I can try to push the indents back out. I tried using a screw driver to pop off the cover but I can't seem to get the cover off because it is too well stuck together. I don't want to crack the cover. Can anyone give me advice how to pop off the front cover without damaging the unit?
