Recently ,we noticed an odd noice coming from the furnace when running. Traced it down to the gas valve. When it's open, there is a rapid clicking sound from the valve... not quite a buzz, but rapid distinc clicks. Not really loud, but you could notice it above the normal furnace noise.
It did this for one cycle, then stopped, then repeated for a few cycles. While it was off, I rotated the on/off knob on the gas valve a few times. It seemed to have solved the problem. A week or so later, the noise was back for one cycle that we noticed, then gone.
Today, the furnace didn't come on. The Diagnostic light indicated 'pressure switch stuck open'. I wiggled the vacuum hoses, the light went out and the furnace started normally.
My question is why was the valve clicking and is it a sign of eminent failure? IS the stuck switch related to this in any way.
