  • Dryer vent gas line

I just had a plumber install new plumbing in my new mud room for washer/dryer, which I just built. The plumber took existing gas line and moved it (unbeknownst to me) to a location, which is now very close to where the vent starts to exhaust for the dryer. The gas line should have been raised at least 18" but it is only about 5 inches form the floor.

I just received my new washer and dryer yesterday and vent pipe coming out of dryer is now currently only a few inches away from gas line connector. It is no problem moving dryer - but I will have to replace wall board to move dryer higher and/or move gas line. I just wanted know if it is safe to use dryer before I make the changes? Is the gas line insulated enough to withstand any heat generated by galvanized vent pipe.?

Knowing that the gas dryer vent is so low on all gas dryers, why would plumber place gas line in a location that would be obstructed by vent? They had a schematic of where I was placing washer and dryer.

    Thanks

the guy should have followed your directions unless there was something structurally unsound with your directions - anyway- the dryer doesn't generate that much heat to be worrisome to you or the gas line.

Thank you. Maybe plumber realized what he did - my bill came with a $200.00 reduction with the word 'dryer' noted.
