Over the last several weeks my 3 year old heat pump has tripped the 50 amp breaker several times. Is this an indicator of anything serious with the pump?
Thanks

you won't know this unless you know someone with a clamp around ammeter. the clamp around measures the amp draw on one or both wires going to the heat pump.

This could be weak breaker, but i would not chance it. I think you should have a tech check your system. the longer you let it go the more damage it could do.
I assume that it is still under warranty. It could be in the compressor, thats what draws the most amps. But it could be something as simple as a contractor
with bad points which drops voltage and ups amperage. later paul
Found the problem with the breaker tripping. 2 mice had got in the junction panel of the outside unit and chewed up the wiring. Some wires were shorting out with vibration occasionally.
Thanks for the help
