heat pump reliability tests

My daughter was told be the service tech to start putting some money aside towards a heat pump. Hers is 17 years old and he said he doesn't give it more than a year or 2 at most.

I can find all kinds of info on the most efficient models. i would like to know if there has been independant professional reliability study/testing done on heat pumps.

look into CONSUMER REPORTS online. They're a publisher of the Kiplinger Society who test UL products.
