  • cut black abs pipe dripping

There is a black pipe in my basement coming from my main level kitchen sink that drips when used. I examined it and it looks like it got banged and caused a crack in a semi circle fashion through a straight section of it. Does this need to be replaced or is there a sealant of some sort?

    Thanks for you input.

if you can cut the rest of the way through it. cut back a tiny bit and use some solvent and a coupling for abs plastic. the oatey company makes a solvent and cement for abs plastic.

Or if you don't want to use glue you can buy at all bigger hardware stores an fitting called a Fernco it's basically a section of rubber (buy the size to match your particular pipe size) with two hose clamps (one for either end. Simply cut the pipe with a hacksaw, slide the boot over it and connect the two sections and tighten the hose clamps....done !!
Sometimes a little dish soap will help the rubber boot slide on easier.
Little about a lot and a lot about a little.
